About The For the Kids Program
The training program, "For The Kids" was developed in an effort to minimize the trauma to a victim of child sexual abuse and to ensure that an effective investigation is conducted. It features a 1 hour video, an Instructor's Guide and an Investigator's Manual for use in the field. "For The Kids" is a practical step by step approach to investigating child sexual abuse. It has been developed by experienced police and child protection investigators with consultation and input from the Crown and community professionals. "For The Kids" is widely accepted as the authoritative training source. It has been distributed throughout Canada and in nine other countries, and has been translated into three other languages.
About the Video
"For The Kids" is a one hour video narrated by Peter Gzowski. This high budget program was produced by a team of professional film makers. The video emphasizes the importance of co-ordinating the efforts of police, child protection workers and the Crown prosecutors. The video highlights two distinct interviews: one with a young male victim and the second with a teenage female victim. The primary focus is to demonstrate successful techniques in joint police / social work interviews. The video captures the dynamics and realism of the child sexual abuse interview process. Intense. About the Instructor's Guide
The Instructor's Guide is a training program designed to assist workshop leaders in providing comprehensive training for police and child protection workers investigating child sexual abuse. It includes modularized formats, content outlines and support materials. The modules are designed to be utilized in a variety of training applications, ranging from half day sessions to multi-day seminars.
About the Investigator's Manual
The field Manual contains over 80 pages of practical and easily applied procedures for investigating child sexual abuse. The manual addresses the joint investigative process, interview techniques, leading questions, multi-cultural aspects, Bill C-15 and more.
