The Calgary Child Witness Court Preparation Program has been providing services for a decade and it is timely to review the data available on child witnesses, offenders, and the response of the Criminal Justice System. With the support and partnership of RESOLVE Alberta (University of Calgary) and specifically Dr. Leslie Tutty and Kendra Nixon, MSW, Lynn Barry and Toni Maier-Morkin, the research project has continued to gather, compile, analyze and interpret program data to document characteristics and trends in the area of child witnesses. A special thank you to researchers Karen Wylie, Peggy Porisky, Jane Christensen, Amber Boskers and Dianne Hill.
The Review was completed by the Canadian Society for the Investigation of Child Abuse, RESOLVE Alberta (University of Calgary) and Mount Royal College (Justice Studies) with the support of Calgary Police Service (Victim Programs) Calgary and area Child and Family Services Authority and Alberta Justice Crown Prosecutor's Office.
Funding was generously provided from Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security (Victims Programs); the Nickel Foundation ($13,900) and the Alberta Law Foundation ($18,600) and City of Calgary Match Solutions ($15,500) The report was released in August 2006.
